Su Lin loves the trees
In her younger days, Su Lin used to get a regular weekly exam but now that she's older, routine exams are tough to schedule. Why? Because she's up in the trees all the time... So check out the blog from the Giant Panda researchers at the San Diego Zoo for updates- there's a very active community of pandafolk in the comments.
Thanks, Swelsh, for getting this great shot:
And dankit saw her in a different tree- thanks!

i asked the national zoo this question. they made the decision to keep him from the treetops "until he was comfortable in the outdoor environment". ask me, he's tearing up that outdoor environment and ready to CLIMB! they're very conservative because he's their first. by my fourth kid, they could juggle knives before we got upset, but that first...wow, poor little kid. ;)

I wonder if female pandas are more advanced than males? Tai Shan is older than Su Lin yet she is climbing trees and he is not. Although it could be because the zoo won't let him. They have metal sleeves on the trees in his yard. Are they overprotective of their precious first baby? (he is the cutest butterstick ever!!!)
